Question
My 1988 Fifth Avenue has spark and gas but will not start. I have another spark control, plugged it in ,but it still did not start. Please HELP! THANK YOU,Rick

Hi Rick,
Check the egr valve which might be stuck slightly ajar. It has a round top, and between that ant the valve body mounted in the pipe that branches off the exhaust manifold you will see a flange inside of which is the valve stem. There is a slot in the stem that you can move back and forth with the tip of a screwdriver to loosen up the action.
Spray WD-40 on the stem where it enters the valve body.
Also try for fualt codes using the ignition key"On-off-on-off-on and leave on" doing that in 4 seconds or less elapsed time. Then count the flashes of the check engine light. Repeat for an accurate count. Let me know the counts in order of appearance.
