Chrysler Repair/2004 Chrysler Sebring code P0300

Question
We keep getting a code p0300 with the check engine light coming on. We have had a tune up done with fuel injection cleaning, new thermostat put in recently. Also sometimes car won't start. To get to start we have to hold the key turned and hit the gas while in park. It is not throwing a code for the not starting and it is not all the time.
Any ideas on what this can be? Mechanic is at a loss since it is only throwing the same p0300 code and it is not specific.
Its a 2.7L, V6 convertible model

Answer
Hi Lisa,
Unfortunately there are quite a few possibilities. If you will send me a NEW question and check the box to make it PRIVATE, and then tell me your email address in the text area of the question, then I can copy the specific list of possible items from the manual for that engine, attaching that to an email directly to you. I don't normally see the email of a questioner, so you have to give it to me as a private, new question.
Because it doesn't appear that a single cylinder is missing, but rather all are doing it that means it has to be an issue that affects all the cylinders. There is a step-by-step procedure outlined in the troubleshooting manual which you could give to your mechanic. It may be an issue with the fuel pressure not being correct based upon how you are able to get it to start. It is that sort of observation that might shorten the list of things that need to be checked.
