Question
Roland, I changed out the oil sending switch and changed to 10-30 synthetic.  Oil pressure light flickering went away.  Now, it's throwing a P0340 code.....camshaft sensor.  But, the car is running fine.  Where is the sensor located?  I'll change it myself.

Thanks!

Answer
Hi Dave,
The sensor is mounted on the left side (driver side) of the timing belt cover just above the left camshaft sprocket. To remove it you are suggested to loosen the upper intake manifold plenum but I am not certain how far you have to loosen it to get the space to pull the sensor out of its hole in the belt cover. Removing the plenum entirely is a fairly big job which I can copy out of a manual I have on CD and send as an attachment to an email. If you put in a new one be sure to leave the paper spacer on the sensor face and push down on the sensor when you are tightening it in place. I wonder whether this is a real code, so you might try disconnecting the battery to erase the old 0340 and then see if it comes back again before getting into the job.

PS If you want the pages on removing (and thus loosening) the manifold then ask a brand new question, check the box to make it private, and then tell me the email address in the test area. If you don't send it private the address is automatically erased by the website.
