Chrysler Repair/Jeep 'Part time' light

Question
2002 Jeep GC Laredo, I-6 engine, auto trans, 4x4, approx 198K miles.  Recently the "Part Time" dash light blinks, most when sitting still.  When I start to move it goes out.  This doesn't happen all the time.  The transmission shifts OK, 4 wheel drive appears OK. I have attempted to determine a sequence in the flashing but can not.  As additional info, I also detect a burnt oil smell when stopped, but the engine oil level doesn't change.  Dealer serviced since new.  Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanx, Jim

Answer
Hi Jim,
I am not familiar with the light "part time" as I don't have experience or manuals for the Jeep of that year. May I suggest that you go to a nationwide parts store, such as Autozone, where they will oftern give a free code readout for fault codes in the memory of the engine and transmission controllers. Get the 4-digit numbers, if any, and let me know what it is.
Then we can go from there.
