Chrysler Repair/tail/running light out: '08 T&C

Question
Hello,

On my 2008 Town & Country, the right taillight and right running light (I think that's what it is called-it is the small amber part of the headlight) don't come on. The brake lights, hazards, and turn signals work as normal though. Is this caused by a faulty relay I can replace myself?

Just in case it is related, the plastic amber turn signal covers on the side mirrors fell off several years ago, and I never replaced them.

Thanks in advance!

Answer
Hi Ann,
I would start by checking fuse #3 in the power box in the engine compartment which is 15 amp in size and is located between the a/c compressor clutch relay and the defogger relay (next to the defogger relay) to see if it might be blown. If it is blown, try replacing it, and if it blows again then there is a problem at one of the two light bulb sockets that are out of service such as a bad bulb or a bad socket. If that is the case you might get 2 new bulbs and replace them both, or you can diagnose which bulb/socket is shorting out the fuse with a volt-ohm meter. Let me know if you run into a problem. I am using the '06 manual to identify the fuse in question, but I believe it is applicable to your '08 model.

PS Sorry for the long delay in getting back to you but I just noticed your question in the 'question pool' to which it had been referred by Kevin.
