Chrysler Repair/Tune up?

Question
QUESTION: I would like to tune up my 02 pt cruiser. What do i have to do?

Thanks

Earl

ANSWER: Hi Earl,
I would start with a fault code readout to find out if the engine controller has observed any problems. Use the ignition key:'on-off-on-off-on and leave on" doing that in 5 seconds or less elapsed time. Then watch the odometer window to see the mileage reading change to show any 4 digit numbers. Let me know of any and we'll go from there. Other than changing the spark plugs at 100,000 miles there is no purpose of a tune-up. Instead you see if anything is wrong and fix that.

QUESTION: Thank You for the information. I should have told you that there is 148000 miles on this car. I tried to get to the spark plugs but i can't get to them from the top. How do i get to them from the top?

Thanks

Earl

Answer
Hi Earl,
You likely have to remove the upper intake manifold which is a 14-step process with the 2.4L engine. Let me know exactly which size (L) engine you have. Then I can copy pages from the shop manual and attach them to an email I woll send directly to you. But to do that I need to know your email address which I am not privy to routinely. You need to tell me that address by sending me a new question where you have check the box to make it PRIVATE, and then tell me the address in the text of the question proper. If you don't do that exactly then it won't come to me but rather be automatically erased. So tell me the L of the engine and the email address.
