Chrysler Repair/98' Sebring Lxi Transmission Problem

Question
Hey Roland! I was hoping if you could help me out here!

Okay, around December last year I was turning a corner going home and my ball joint went out and my Sebring slammed down so I had to get it pulled into my yard. I noticed there was a ton of fluid left on the asphalt as well. I got the ball joint repaired and all, that's no longer a problem. However the transmission is now. I'm guessing when it slammed down it probably cracked or broke something in it, because I now know for a fact it's leaking. Not only that but it use to lag when shifting gears and now it'll shift but make a creaking noise. You press the gas and it goes nowhere and now the engine light is on as well. I was wondering if you could at least guess what went wrong with it? I'm thinking I'm probably going to need a new one or a rebuild or something cause it sounds shot to me. Other then that the car has been perfectly fine, no leaks anywhere else.

Answer
Hi Tre,
It is not clear to me whether you found the transmission leak, whether you fixed that, and/or whether you refilled the transmission with fluid to the proper level. If you have done all that and you have an issue with the trans then I would seek out a fault code from the transmission control module. That can often be had for free at a nationwide autoparts store such as Autozone. If you get any 4-digit numbers from that process let me know what they are and we can go from there.
