Chrysler Repair/Chrysler PT Cruiser
QUESTION: Hello. I have a 2004 2.4L Chrysler PT Cruiser w/ 60000 miles. The engine light came on in December and the repair shop replaced the Cam Sensor although they said that might not be the problem and I should take it to the dealer. Dealer was closed. Anyway, light came on again on Tues. 1/15. Took it to the dealer and they replaced 2 O2 sensors which is what I told them the diagnostic codes were when I did the key dance beforehand. Today, 2 days later, the engine light came on again only flashing this time. The key dance isn't working but the trip button on,ignition on, trip button off gave me FL0007, EE14 and bL01. Any idea what this might be? Thanks so much!
ANSWER: I believe those might be codes for the instrument cluster self-diagnosis. I would suggest that you get an engine code reader plug-in type of readout for the engine light issue. A nationwide autoparts store (e.g. Autozone) will often do that for free. Let me know if you get any 4-digit codes preceded by a P.

QUESTION: Dealership telling me the car might need a new computer. To the tune of $800 plus dollars. This doesn't seem right. Thanks.
ANSWER: Hi Teresa,
I would seek that free code readout at an Autozone or even go to an independant shop and see if they can get a readout for which they might charge $40 (and maybe not charge anything if there is no proof of a readout having occured). Also what do you mean by 'only flashing this time"? When you do the key giggle what does the light do next? I assume it is still 'on' when you are driving it?
So you turn off the engine. Then turn the key 'on-off-on-off-on and leave on' doing that within 5 seconds or less. Then does the engine light stay 'on' and then start flashing and if so for how long? or what else does it do? Previously I guess that you would see P-codes in the odometer window after doing the key giggle, correct?
Thanks for the rating and nomination.

QUESTION: Hi Roland. This is what happened today- driving home I turned on the windshield washer. There was no windshield fluid in the resevoir although the dealer was supposed to have topped off all fluids on Tuesday. A few seconds later, the check engine light started flashing and continued to do so all the way home. At home, turned off the car, checked under the hood to see if any obvious issues. Did the key dance and there was nothing on the odometer except the mileage. The check engine light came on and stayed on but not flashing this time. The oil light also stayed on but when I started the car, the oil light went off and just the engine light stayed on. Checked the oil and it was fine. Trans and other fluids also fine.?! Thanks again.
I still think you need to try for a code readout for free, or at an independent shop, using a plug-in code reader. Is the engine running reasonably as it has been in the recent past?
Let me know the results from a plug-in code readout. In your state do you have to psss an annual or bi-enneial inspection to renew your vehicle license plates and if so is that coming up soon?
