Ken Freeman here, I have a simular problem with my Ram Van. I can tell you the programming on your pcm is what really counts. It needs to be programmed using your vin # it is specific to your car. The best place to one is the computer exchange for about 250$. It will ship to you ready to plug and drive away.hope this helps and good luck. You might want to check for shorts first. With the key off remove the neg battery terminal and put a test light between the terminal and the post if the light comes on you have a short. (make sure your door is closed and if you have an under hood light remove the bulb, any power usage will give a false positive.) If all lights are off but the test light is lit stsrt pulling fuses one at a time till the test light goes out. You have found your grounded circuit. Again good luck

I've had the same problem for several years with a 96 Intrepid.  I think my problem is in the ignition switch.  I have a factory anti-theft system but not the original key. After applying graphite in the ignition switch the problem went away for several months.  If I keep the switch well lubed it seems to start first time everytime. My routine was to try to start, if it failed I would get out wait about 5 min. and retry often it would start right up sometimes had to do it several times.

Problems with electronically controlled engines and transmissions as well as body wiring problems are my specialty.

I take questions one at a time between 8am and 10pm CT and attempt to answer within 20 minutes. "Maxed Out" means I am answering another question of otherwise busy, so try again later.

There are answers on file to more than sixteen thousand Chrysler questions at your finger tips: put a few key words in the "find" box (above) or click on "view past answers" for a chronological list of my q and a's. Don't use "Add to this answer" if you still have a question...ask it. As to trucks and jeeps I only have manuals for the '04-'06 model years.
