Question
Was wondering what your belief is on evening communion. We have some in our area that think its wrong to do have it and others who believe its wrong not to have it. Is there any Bible reference to this that you know of?

Thanks

Answer
Thankyou for your question Danny

We are told of the day that we are to hold communion (Acts 20:7) but not of the time or times we can take communion on that given day of the week.  In 1 Cor. 11:25-26 we are told that as "oft" as we come together for the breaking of the bread and the drinking of the cup we do so in rememberance of the Lord.  So, with that "oft" we don't know how often the disciples came together on the first day of the week, could have been multiple times.  We as the Church of Christ don't want to be legalistic about this matter, we want to do what is right.  It seems that God gave the apostles the power of choice in Acts to do the communion on how ever may occasions they came together on the first day of the week.  At the Mile High Church of Christ in Denver where I worship, we have two worship services, morning and evening.  We do communion on both occasions partly because of what was said in the letter (as oft as ye come together) and partly because some Christians may not be able to attend in the morning but they can at night, and we definitely want to make sure they have a chance to commune with Christ and their fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. It is not wrong to have communion at evening service because there is no scripture banning it, it is as often as we come together on the first day of the week, we can take communion in the rememberance of the Lord.  Have a blessed day

Experience

I was born and raised in the Church of Christ and was baptized at age 10. With the help of my mother and father, brothers and sisters of the church, christian friends etc...I have a profound knowledge of the truth about the Word of God. I am strong in my beliefs and convictions and will answer anyones questions with scriptual knowledge and fact. I want to boldly proclaim the true Word of God according to Bible principal instead of what I think or what someone has told me.
