Churches Of Christ/What a Christian must do

Question
I was talking to a Churches of Christ person and he was talking about what a person must do by virtue of the fact that he is a Christian. I do not understand what he meant by that phrase "by virtue of the fact that he is a Christian".

I am not sure he understands it either, because he could not provide a few examples of what a person must do by virtue of the fact that he is a Christian, things do not apply to non-Christians.

Can you help? Can you provide a few examples?

Answer
Must do in regards to what?  If you are referring to what a person must do in regards to being lost and becoming saved again because they are a Christian, then it is different than what a non-Christian must do.

A Christian, one who has already heard the good-news (gospel), believed it, repented (turned from sin and towards God), confessed their faith in Christ as the Son of God to others, and been immersed in water into Christ by the Holy Spirit for the remission of sins, may fall away from that saved state by willful rebellion.  Such a person simply needs to repent from their evil actions and turn back to God, praying for forgiveness.

A non-Christian does not have access to God through prayer and must first hear, believe, repent, confess, and be immersed in water for the remission of sins.  Anyone who has not done this is not a Christian according to the Bible.

If this is not what you are asking, could you please clarify a bit more?  Thanks for your question and I hope I've helped. :)
