Question Do you believe the Church replaced Israel, and that the Throne of David will not be re-established again on earth with Christ ruling on it after His return?
Answer That is correct. There are a host of reasons why I believe this. I have even started a blog about it: http://swordmasterpublications.blogspot.com
I'll respond here with a very powerful argument against Christ ruling from the Throne of David on Earth. Jesus was a descendant of a man named Coniah (also called Jechoniah or Jechonias). We see this recorded in Matt. 1:11-12. But in Jer. 22:24-30, the prophet prophesies regarding Coniah that "no man of his seed shall prosper, sitting upon the throne of David, and ruling any more in Judah."
If Christ were to come back to Earth to rule on the Throne of David in Jerusalem, then the Bible is false and all that such would mean for mankind. It cannot happen.
My father and I put together a very long study on the kingdom/church and included a very thorough examination of the idea that Jesus is high priest now, on the throne of David now, and that throne is the throne of God. I know some make a distinction between the two thrones, but the Bible does not.
Much of the New Testament is about the end of Judaism, the inferiority of the Law of Moses (usually just referred to as "the law") and the superiority of the New Testament. Paul wrote about it in every letter. Hebrews is about that very topic. Revelation is the prophecy of the timing and details of the end of Judaism and the victory of Christ and the church. Revelation 21 is the bride, the church (the New Jerusalem), descending out of Heaven, the pure bride for Christ, the conquering rider on the white horse. This bride is in contrast to Judaism (the Old Jerusalem), the whore who prostitutes herself out to the nations of the world time and again through history. It is the culmination of the promise God made to Israel in Lev. 26 and Deut. 32.
