Question
WHEN WAS JESUS CHRIST REALLY BORN?

Answer
The Bible does not tell us explicitly either a year or a time of the year.  Some have used certain contextual clues to try and map out a date.  Yet as far as doctrine and Christmas goes, the Bible not saying means that it is not important for my salvation to know.

Christmas is a Catholic thing instituted to try and bring the pagans in to the Catholic church during the Dark Ages.  It coincides with their Winter Solstice festivals.  I do not believe it is authorized to celebrate Christmas as a religious holiday and do not celebrate it with regard to my faith in any capacity.

However, I see no error in celebrating the non-religious aspects of the holiday.  Getting together with friends, exchanging gifts, decorating, eating turkey.  Some know and attach religious significance to even these, but most of those I hang out with don't, especially here in the U.S.

If I can clarify or add more, please ask!
