About Onaga Thomas
Expertise
I am a member of the Park East Church of Christ in Denver, CO. I can answer any questions any people out there have regarding the Churches of Christ. Whether it be about our history, services, spirituallity or why we believe in only one church. Write me with any concerns you have about the Church of Christ and I will do my best to answer them

Experience
I was born and raised in the Church of Christ and was baptized at age 10. With the help of my mother and father, brothers and sisters of the church, christian friends etc...I have a profound knowledge of the truth about the Word of God. I am strong in my beliefs and convictions and will answer anyones questions with scriptual knowledge and fact. I want to boldly proclaim the true Word of God according to Bible principal instead of what I think or what someone has told me.

Churches Of Christ - communion

Expert: Onaga Thomas - 5/23/2009

Question
I have been going to the Church of Christ for about 4 years and I was told that in order to take communion I must join the church and be baptized. I was baptized 58 years ago and have been a practicing Christian all my life I am now in my 70's and have had two total knees my doctor says it would not be good to be baptized in the traditional way because it could damage my cartledge. Is this a Church Of Christ doctrine or just the church I attend

Answer
Thankyou for your question Sally

If you were already baptized into the Church of Christ 58 years ago there is no need to be re-baptized.  Now, if you were not baptized into the church but another religious organization long ago, that would be why they were asking to see if you were a candidate for baptism.  I do not know from your question if your first baptism was into the Church of Christ or not.  Can you let me know about which church that first baptism was into?
