Question
the bible says in Hebrews 9:27 that it is appointed unto a man once to die and after that the judgement[king james version]
i have been always wondering on whether any place in the bible can tell us if it is also appointed unto a man;
[1] when to die? and
[2]how to die?
in other words,do people die because they caused it?
do people die because they were killed by sickness or by other people?
do people die by mistake?or
simply when the day of death comes as the person must go,whatever effort that could save is useless,what's really the mystery in all these?

Answer
This is a hard question to answer.  There is just so much involved here.  There are, to my knowledge, no scriptures that relate a persons time/manner to die.  Death entered the world through Adam and Eve's sin and for all mankind the wages of sin is death.  It has been said that when the L-rd wants to take you home there is no power in heaven or on earth that can prevent it, but that does not mean that every death is a direct result of G-d's will.  It also does not mean that we should refuse medical treatment/medications. The unfortunate result of free will is that a person could choose to end their life, that a disease can cause many deaths, and that accidents do occur.

I hope this answers your question, if not please ask another.

In Christ,

Marc
