Question
Is it true that God the Father is mightier or greater "God" than God the son? Because in Joh 13:16 Jesus said: "Verily, verily, I say unto you, a servant is not greater than his lord; neither one that is sent greater than he that sent him." And other verses like john 14:28 and I Cor. 11:3. If this is true then there is a greatest "God" and a Lesser "God"?

Answer
Hey Dan,

In the context of Jesus words in John 13:16, Jesus is speaking of authority (Grk. exousia), not capacity to do work (Grk. dunamis).  The Trinity is difficult for many to comprehend because we try to insert our own limited concepts and perceptions into the idea instead of letting the Bible and only the Bible identify God.  There exists a hierarchy within the Trinity of Father to Son to Holy Spirit and both Son and Spirit willingly and fully submit to their role.  The only time Jesus was less in power (capacity to do work, not authority) was when he "emptied Himself" to walk among us as one of us.  He has since returned to the glory He once had (John 17:5).

I hope that answers your question. :)

In Truth and Love.
