Question
I have been a member of the C of C since age 11. I have been asked many times where it says in the Bible we are to take communion every Sunday. I just remember hearing "we are to take communion on the Sabbath". But for the life of me I can't remember a chapter and verse. I read I Corin 11:23-26. But did not find my answer. Can you help me? Also, music. I have said because we are to make music in our hearts. These are 2 questions asked of me a lot. Hope you can help me.  Thanks, Pam

Answer
Thankyou for your question Pam

In 1 Cor. 11:23-30 it describes the reason we are to take the Lord's Supper (Communion), but you are right it does not say when we are to take it.  For that we need to go to Acts 20:7 "On the first day of the week" the verse starts out how believer gathered themselves in worship for God. We in the COC use that scripture as out authority in taking communion and also contribution on every first day of the week.  As for as music is concerned, we are not authorized to use musical instuments but are told to make melody (music) in our hearts, to sing (Ephesians 5:19) and there is a similar passage in Colossians 3:16 as well.  So communion and singing are authorized by the Lord and we have scripture to back that up, as for everything we do.

Experience

I was born and raised in the Church of Christ and was baptized at age 10. With the help of my mother and father, brothers and sisters of the church, christian friends etc...I have a profound knowledge of the truth about the Word of God. I am strong in my beliefs and convictions and will answer anyones questions with scriptual knowledge and fact. I want to boldly proclaim the true Word of God according to Bible principal instead of what I think or what someone has told me.
