Question
What does it mean to worship in Spirit and Thuth?
Define Spirit;
Define Truth:

Answer
Thankyou for your question Ken.  John is outlining how we as Christian followers should worship God "in Spirit and in Truth."  Notice what John says before that in John 4:24 "God is a spirit."  God is a spirit and we must worship Him so, not making God a material thing.  Some religions worship statues and idols that have so-called "religious" value, but that is not so.  That is idolatory.  Worshiping Him in spirit is worshiping in faith from your heart.  From this faith you trust God and only Him.  "In truth" is a key ingredient as well.  The Bible is the Word of God, the truth, our instuction manual.  Worshiping God as the Bible directs and not by man-made ideas is worshiping in truth.  Combine the whole sentence in John 4:24 "God is spirit, and those that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth."  God is spiritual and must be worshipped in spirit by faith and in your heart.  God is truth, to be worhipped according to His scriptures outlined in His book, the Bible.  That is worshipping God correctly, any other way is in error to the Word of God.

Ken, hopefully that was not to lengthly an explanation and makes sense.  God bless you to worship him the right way "in spirit and in truth"

God Bless
