QuestionOh come now- there's no such thing as non-denominational. Do you speak in tongues? Are you Pentecostal? Sola Scriptura? From what tradition did you spring? I know you believe your beliefs mirror that of the early church, but when did the church known as "The Church of Christ" actually begin?

What the heck is the Church of Christ? I've never heard of it. When did it start and what do you believe?

Thankyou for your question Johann
The Church of Christ is a non-demoninational church that only believes what the bible teaches. The Lord church began on the Day on Pentecost (Acts Ch.2)and the functions of the church are laid on in the New Testement. The Church of Christ follows the examples of the New Testement Christianity of Jesus and his disciples. Paul speaks of the Church of Christ in Romans 16:16, so we do wear a bibical name. We believe in coming in worship the Lord on the first day of the week, singing, prayer and preaching. Taking the Lord's Supper on the first day of the week (Acts 20:7) as well as contribution (giving) Acts 9:6-7). The Lord adds those to His church that hear, believe, repent, confess Jesus holy and divine name as the Son of God and are then baptized into Christ (romans 6:4). Here is just a brief overview I have tried to show you about the COC. It was not founded by a mere man, Christ is the head of the church and we try to function as His word directs us. Please, if you have anymore questions feel free to ask them

AnswerThanks again Johann
There is such a thing as a non-denominational church, it is the church that Jesus died for and that was not founded by a man. Jesus did come to build His church (Matt. 16:18)so His church is the one that matters, making His church the only non-demoninational church. Jesus church stated on the Day of Pentecost in Acts 2 and still exist today. We in the Church of Christ believe we were started on that day. Paul mentions the church in Romans 16:16 "the Churches of Christ salute you," and since we know the Holy Spirit divinely directed the apostles to write God's Word we can tell two things from that one statement: The Church of Christ was in existence in Paul's day or he would not have spoken of it and secondly it has to be the Lord's Church or God was have not put it in his holy Word.
So we are not Pentecostal, Sola Scriptura, or any other denomination because when u look up the history on denominations you can find one common thread: they were all started by man and not found in the scriptures and therefore Christ Jesus cound not be the Head of their churches. Hope all this helps and if you have any further questions, feel free to ask.
God Bless
