Question
Hi, I've been asking about love, Jesus said to love God, ourself and our enemy, how?  How can one love God if one can never truly know God?  Is love of self the same thing?  Can you shed some light on this?  Thanks

Answer
Thankyou for your question

First, we can know God and know about God through Jesus and His word.  We can also know God through the Bible, the very reason it was given was for us to know God.  I was actually reading 1,2&3 John this week and in it is say we show our love for God when we obey and do his commandments.  It is the same thing Jesus says as well (John 6:46).  So, we can love God because God is love and he showed his love for us first in sacrificing His Son.  We love God when we do his will and are obedient to it.  Love of self is understanding that God created you for His purpose, so you are loving what God has made.  It's not to be a arrogent, self-interest only prideful "I love myself" type thing, just understanding that God loved you enough to make you, so love what God has created.  Loving our enemy is taught be Jesus and is in God's will as well.  It is also overcoming the devil, because things like hate, envy, stealing, killing are his devices.  God always rises above that and if we are His true believers we have to do the same.  The great thing about your question is that they are found in God's Word, love is all through it.  have a blesse day

I was born and raised in the Church of Christ and was baptized at age 10. With the help of my mother and father, brothers and sisters of the church, christian friends etc...I have a profound knowledge of the truth about the Word of God. I am strong in my beliefs and convictions and will answer anyones questions with scriptual knowledge and fact. I want to boldly proclaim the true Word of God according to Bible principal instead of what I think or what someone has told me.
