Question
I just bought a small '5 Vegas Heritage Humidor'.  It came with a small (top size of tennis ball) water deal.  How much water do I put in?  Also, how often should i add water.  Thanks

Answer
Johnny,

The unit that holds and distributes water in your humidor is called a humidifier. It is basically a material that will absorb water and then let it evaporate in to the air inside your humidor to keep the cigars moist. Pour distilled water in it until it won't hold any more, wipe the excess off so than none drips on to the cigars and then put it back inside the humidor. You should re-fill it as it drys out, which will vary depending on how big your humidor is, how many cigars you have in it and how often you open it. Start by refilling it about every 2-3 weeks. If you notice the cigars starting to dry out then you'll need to refill it more often. If you use humidifier solution, which is just a mixture of propylene glycol and water, you will most likely see the humidifier do a better job of keeping your cigars fresh. This solution is available from most cigar shops.

Expertise

I'm a fourth generation cigar maker and have spent 25+ years operating our factory as well as a mail order cigar company. I belong to cigar manufacturers associations as well as retail cigar associations so I'm usually up to date with current events relating to cigars. I've smoked the majority of brands on the market and would be happy to share my opinions of them with you. Since I live in the U.S. I have very little experience with Cuban cigars, but other than that I know a least a little bit about almost every brand of cigars on the market.

Experience

In addition to growing up in and now managing our cigar factory for 25+ years, I've spent time in many factories in Honduras, Nicaragua, The Dominican Republic and Mexico. BR>
