Question
I have a humidor that has a built in humidor.  It looks like it was hand made humidor from Cuba.  It has a glass vile inside?  Will I be able to use the humidor?  I have some cigars and don't know if its still ok to put new cigars.  What do you suggest I can do to save the humidor? or do you think I should buy a new one.   thanks

Answer
Sig,

If it has a built in humidifier, the humidifier itself is probably too old to work properly. However, if the humidor seals well it will work fine, you just need to put a new humidifier in it. If the humidor needs to be cleaned inside then wipe it out with a mixture of clean water and a few drops of bleach. Then let in air out for a day or 2, and go back and wipe it down with clean water so that the dry wood will absorb some moisture - just don't get it wet, it should be very lightly damp. Then put your new humidifier in it and it should be good to go.

Expertise

I'm a fourth generation cigar maker and have spent 25+ years operating our factory as well as a mail order cigar company. I belong to cigar manufacturers associations as well as retail cigar associations so I'm usually up to date with current events relating to cigars. I've smoked the majority of brands on the market and would be happy to share my opinions of them with you. Since I live in the U.S. I have very little experience with Cuban cigars, but other than that I know a least a little bit about almost every brand of cigars on the market.

Experience

In addition to growing up in and now managing our cigar factory for 25+ years, I've spent time in many factories in Honduras, Nicaragua, The Dominican Republic and Mexico. BR>
