Cigars/Cuban cigars in the Dominican

Question
Hi James, I have a friend going to the Dominican and he is going to bring me back some cigars. I prefer Cubans (of course), so my question is, can you buy Cubans there, and are they quite available and authentic? Thanks again for your time.

Yes, genuine Cuban cigars can be found in the Dominican Republic and to make sure that your friend buys genuine Cuban cigars, he/she should shop at a Habanos SA-approved retailer such as a La Casa del Habanos (LCDH). I'm not sure where in the Dominican your friend is visiting but there are LCDH shops all over the world (except the US), including the Dominican so your friend shouldn't have trouble finding an LCDH store. If your friend can't find an LCDH store, he/she can also shop at a cigar store that is an authorized Habanos SA retailer. Authorized Habanos retailers will have an annual sticker on their store window/door or humidor cabinet window that clearly states that they are an official Habanos retailer.
Cuban cigar stores in the Dominican will also be supplied by DALSO S.A. EKENA GRAFICA DOMINICANA S.A. which is the official and only-appointed Habanos SA distributor for the Dominican Republic. If your friend is unsure if the store is legitimate or not, he/she can ask the store staff who their distributor is. If their distributor is not DALSO S.A. EKENA GRAFICA DOMINICANA S.A. and they claim to receive their cigars from another store/distributor or country, do not shop there as the authenticity of the cigars will be questionable.
