Question
hi bill.as living in the uk I smoke cubans  most of the time,I keep them in a humidor at 65/70% humidity,I some times find that sticks I buy in tubes taste better, all though habanos sa recommend to decant from tubes to humidor so why do they bother to sell boxes of 25's in tubes at all,can you tell me your thoughts on this matter.

many thanks
Graham

Answer
Graham,

I always suggest that smokers keep their cigars in the tubes or cellophane wrappers that they come in, even while stored in the humidor. The tubes protect the cigars from damage as you dig through your humidor or take them with you to an outing. I agree with you - if you were to buy a box and take them out of the tubes, why spend the extra money on the tubes in the first place?

I don't know what would make them taste better in the tubes, unless they are cedar lined tubes and you are just enjoying the extra cedar flavor and aroma.

Hope this helps.
Bill

Expertise

I'm a fourth generation cigar maker and have spent 25+ years operating our factory as well as a mail order cigar company. I belong to cigar manufacturers associations as well as retail cigar associations so I'm usually up to date with current events relating to cigars. I've smoked the majority of brands on the market and would be happy to share my opinions of them with you. Since I live in the U.S. I have very little experience with Cuban cigars, but other than that I know a least a little bit about almost every brand of cigars on the market.

Experience

In addition to growing up in and now managing our cigar factory for 25+ years, I've spent time in many factories in Honduras, Nicaragua, The Dominican Republic and Mexico. BR>
