Cigars/Tobacco bugs/Clean Humidor

Question
I noticed a few tobacco bugs in my employers' humidor.  We have placed all unsuspecting cigars in plastic bags and placed in freezer (per employer) - vacuumed out any bugs and wiped down interior.  What else can be done?  Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Answer
Latricia,

You've done the right thing. Freeze the cigars for about 3-4 days, let them thaw outside of the plastic bags for a few hours and then put them back in the humidor. You should not see any more problems. We do sell a tobacco bug trap that will catch all of the male bugs - if you keep one in the humidor it keeps future bugs from breeding and will indicate a problem immediately before the bugs do a lot of damage. The traps are $9.95 and are available at www.finckcigarcompany.com Just search our products section for bug traps

Hope this helps.

Expertise

I'm a fourth generation cigar maker and have spent 25+ years operating our factory as well as a mail order cigar company. I belong to cigar manufacturers associations as well as retail cigar associations so I'm usually up to date with current events relating to cigars. I've smoked the majority of brands on the market and would be happy to share my opinions of them with you. Since I live in the U.S. I have very little experience with Cuban cigars, but other than that I know a least a little bit about almost every brand of cigars on the market.

Experience

In addition to growing up in and now managing our cigar factory for 25+ years, I've spent time in many factories in Honduras, Nicaragua, The Dominican Republic and Mexico. BR>
