Cigars/humidification device

Question
James, I have my humidification device on the lid of the humi.  Should I move it.  If so, this means that I will mix my cigars.  To give you an idea of what I have is: Padron 64s, 26, 3000, 6000, La Flor Dominicanos, DPG Black label, Ashton VSGs, Oliva Series Gs, Rocky Patel Vin 90s etc.  Will these cigars be fine next to eachother?  Also, where should I place the cigars that swelled?  Thank you for your help.

Answer
Hi Michael,

It's perfectly fine to store cigars of different brands/countries together.  If you prefer, you can keep all your different brands separated with cedar dividers (the cedar sheets inside cigar boxes are perfect for this.)  It's also not necessary to relocate your humidification device.  Also, your swollen cigars should be kept furthest away from the humidification device so if your humidification device is under the lid, keep the swollen cigars on the bottom row so that they are not directly exposed to the humidification device.

Again, the important thing is to lower your humidity immediately and once you are able to stabilize it at 70%, everything will be perfect and your cigars will be safe.

Regards,
James

Expertise

My main area of expertise is Cuban cigars but I can also assist you with cigar etiquette, humidor maintenance and troubleshooting. Unsure of a certain cigar brand? Wondering what a certain cigar tastes like? Have any questions about Cuban cigars? Just let me know! I have smoked every brand of Cuban cigars and most reputable non-Cuban cigar brands on a regular basis so I know a fair bit about taste profiles, cigar etiquette and other fine nuances to cigar smoking. (NOTE: My main focus is on premium, hand-rolled cigars and not cheap, machine made, convenience store cigars.) IMPORTANT: PLEASE NOTE THAT I DO NOT PROVIDE CIGAR OR CIGAR-RELATED APPRAISALS. If you have a vintage cigar item and you want to know if it's worth something, please contact an antique dealer that specializes in "TOBACCIANA".

Experience

I currently have 19 dedicated years of cigar smoking and counting. I have smoked every brand of Cuban cigars and most reputable non-Cuban cigar brands on a regular basis so I know a fair bit about taste profiles, cigar etiquette and other fine nuances to cigar smoking. For 5 years, I studied with Cuban torcedores (rollers), catadores (taste testers) and revisadores (inspectors) on every aspect involving the production of the Cuban cigar and I am currently writing a book that will help beginners understand everything they need to know about cigars and cigar smoking.
