Cigars/must smoke cigar

Question
James,

thank you for your answer to my last few questions. It turned out I didn't really have a mold problem and my montecristo edmundo's have been joined by a few cuaba salamones and san cristobal del habana Muralla (54X 7.5 inches, genuinely massive smokes :)) in my humidor.

I'm on a business trip to singapore and have been told about Jimmy Ng's collection of cigars at La Casa Cubana and have decided to visit. What in your opinion is the one "must smoke" cigar that I simply must splurge on there. Do keep in mind that I love big (Ring guage 50 or above), strong, full bodied cigars and have access most recent edition habanos in Bangalore, India where I live, and am looking to experience something I wouldn't be able to get hold of through mainstream retail.

Thank you again for your advice.

Answer
Hi Arun,

I'm glad to hear that you don't have a mold problem. :)

As for "must try" cigars, if you are looking to splurge on absolutely decadent cigars, I would recommend the Cohiba Gran Corona or some of the Millenium Reserva cigars (the ones in the white ceramic jars).  The Cohiba Gran Corona is the Cohiba version of the Montecristo "A" and though the ring guage is a bit smaller than you like, it's length just adds to the incredible flavour.  The Millenium Reserva cigars (Cohiba, Cuaba and Montecristo if I remember correctly) are becoming more rare nowadays but are definitely worth trying; especially now since they have many good years of age on them now.

Also, if you haven't tried them yet, some of the older Edicion Limitada cigars are worth trying if you can find them. (Such as Cohiba double corona, ultra rare Robaina Prominente and the original Montecristo Robusto and Partagas Piramide releases.)

Aside from this, just keep an eye out for cigars you normally wouldn't find in your local tobacconist and give them a try. :)

Regards,
James

Expertise

My main area of expertise is Cuban cigars but I can also assist you with cigar etiquette, humidor maintenance and troubleshooting. Unsure of a certain cigar brand? Wondering what a certain cigar tastes like? Have any questions about Cuban cigars? Just let me know! I have smoked every brand of Cuban cigars and most reputable non-Cuban cigar brands on a regular basis so I know a fair bit about taste profiles, cigar etiquette and other fine nuances to cigar smoking. (NOTE: My main focus is on premium, hand-rolled cigars and not cheap, machine made, convenience store cigars.) IMPORTANT: PLEASE NOTE THAT I DO NOT PROVIDE CIGAR OR CIGAR-RELATED APPRAISALS. If you have a vintage cigar item and you want to know if it's worth something, please contact an antique dealer that specializes in "TOBACCIANA".

Experience

I currently have 19 dedicated years of cigar smoking and counting. I have smoked every brand of Cuban cigars and most reputable non-Cuban cigar brands on a regular basis so I know a fair bit about taste profiles, cigar etiquette and other fine nuances to cigar smoking. For 5 years, I studied with Cuban torcedores (rollers), catadores (taste testers) and revisadores (inspectors) on every aspect involving the production of the Cuban cigar and I am currently writing a book that will help beginners understand everything they need to know about cigars and cigar smoking.
