About Bill Finck Jr.
Expertise
I'm a fourth generation cigar maker and have spent 25+ years operating our factory as well as a mail order cigar company. I belong to cigar manufacturers associations as well as retail cigar associations so I'm usually up to date with current events relating to cigars. I've smoked the majority of brands on the market and would be happy to share my opinions of them with you. Since I live in the U.S. I have very little experience with Cuban cigars, but other than that I know a least a little bit about almost every brand of cigars on the market.

Experience
In addition to growing up in and now managing our cigar factory for 25+ years, I've spent time in many factories in Honduras, Nicaragua, The Dominican Republic and Mexico. BR>

Cigars - storing cigars

Expert: Bill Finck Jr. - 10/13/2009

Question
I have recently tried the Garcia Vega Pops Crystals cigar. They come in a glass tube with a cork lid. Do I need to use a humidor with  these, and if so, does the cigars need to be removed from the tube? I know these are not expensive cigars, but I was going to order them online, and there are 50 of them. I don't want them to dry out. It would take me a couple months to smoke 50 of them. Thanks, Joe.

Answer
Joe,

Even though these cigars are sealed in glass tubes, they will start drying out somewhat over 60 days. However, I don't think they'll get so dry that they will not be enjoyable. The Garcia Y Vega brand is designed to be sold in mass-market outlets in non-humidified environments, and they will normally sit out in warehouse/distribution centers and on the store shelves for more than 60 days.

If you order them and they do start drying out, you can always buy your humidor then and re-humidify them. If you need to re-humidify them, remove them from their tubes. If you are storing fresh cigars in tubes, there is no need to remove them from the tubes while storing them in a humidor.

Hope this helps.
Bill
