Question
Dear James,
I have just purchased the black, pyramid Adorini humidor, which arrived with little instructions and here are my questions:
How to remove the hygrometer from the housing for calibration?
Is the OASIS Ultra electronic humidifier an ideal choise for this unit and where can I purchase the Adorini humidifier liquid for my current humidifier here in the U.S.?
When will your book be available and how to purchase?
Kind Regards
Thomas

Answer
Hi Thomas,

Because the hygrometer is installed into the facade of the humidor, it may not be removable.    Removing the hygrometer may cause damage to the wood or seal and compromise the humidity performance.  To test your Adorini hygrometer for accuracy, simply place another hygrometer (one that is calibrated and confirmed to be accurate) in your humidor and let it sit for at least 6 hours.  After 6 hours, check on the hygrometer.  If the humidity reading is identical to the fixed Adorini hygrometer, both are accurate and do not need to be calibrated.  If the humidity readings do not match, the Adorini hygrometer is not accurate and needs to be calibrated.  To calibrate your hygrometer, there should be a calibration knob or screw on the back of the hygrometer unit that allows you to adjust the display needle.  This knob should be accessible without having to remove the hygrometer from the unit.

Most cigar stores will carry Adorini humidifier liquid or at least be able to order it for you.  You can also purchase this liquid through many Internet retailers.

Hopes this helps.  If you have any more questions, please feel free to just ask and I will be happy to help.

Regards,
James

Expertise

My main area of expertise is Cuban cigars but I can also assist you with cigar etiquette, humidor maintenance and troubleshooting. Unsure of a certain cigar brand? Wondering what a certain cigar tastes like? Have any questions about Cuban cigars? Just let me know! I have smoked every brand of Cuban cigars and most reputable non-Cuban cigar brands on a regular basis so I know a fair bit about taste profiles, cigar etiquette and other fine nuances to cigar smoking. (NOTE: My main focus is on premium, hand-rolled cigars and not cheap, machine made, convenience store cigars.) IMPORTANT: PLEASE NOTE THAT I DO NOT PROVIDE CIGAR OR CIGAR-RELATED APPRAISALS. If you have a vintage cigar item and you want to know if it's worth something, please contact an antique dealer that specializes in "TOBACCIANA".

Experience

I currently have 19 dedicated years of cigar smoking and counting. I have smoked every brand of Cuban cigars and most reputable non-Cuban cigar brands on a regular basis so I know a fair bit about taste profiles, cigar etiquette and other fine nuances to cigar smoking. For 5 years, I studied with Cuban torcedores (rollers), catadores (taste testers) and revisadores (inspectors) on every aspect involving the production of the Cuban cigar and I am currently writing a book that will help beginners understand everything they need to know about cigars and cigar smoking.
