Cigars/looking for metal cigar tubes

Question
Hi,
I am a pre-service teacher badly in need of used (or even new if cheap) metal cigar tubes for a science experiment we are doing next week. I am really getting nervous because so far I have only located six of them and don't even know if they will get here on time. Do you have access or know anyone who has any of these? Thank you,
T. Cornett

Answer
Hi Tamara,

I don't have access to empty cigar tubes at the moment but if you contact local cigar stores and cigar lounges in your area, they may be able to gather some empty cigar tubes for you.  Finding a large supply of empty cigar tubes may be tricky so you may need to ask several cigar stores and lounges as well as cigar smokers who frequent them.  Some cigar stores do sell empty cigar tubes (to people who occassionally need a cigar tube to store a cigar) so hopefully you shouldn't have much trouble finding them.

Also, if your city or local community has a freecycle (recycling) program, consider making a public request for empty cigar tubes and hopefully someone (or numerous people) with empty cigar tubes will donate them to you.

I have also been told that you might be able to find plain metal cigar tubes at some arts & crafts stores as they're used for arts and craft projects.

Hopes this helps.  If you have any more questions, please feel free to just ask and I will be happy to help.

Regards,
James

Expertise

My main area of expertise is Cuban cigars but I can also assist you with cigar etiquette, humidor maintenance and troubleshooting. Unsure of a certain cigar brand? Wondering what a certain cigar tastes like? Have any questions about Cuban cigars? Just let me know! I have smoked every brand of Cuban cigars and most reputable non-Cuban cigar brands on a regular basis so I know a fair bit about taste profiles, cigar etiquette and other fine nuances to cigar smoking. (NOTE: My main focus is on premium, hand-rolled cigars and not cheap, machine made, convenience store cigars.) IMPORTANT: PLEASE NOTE THAT I DO NOT PROVIDE CIGAR OR CIGAR-RELATED APPRAISALS. If you have a vintage cigar item and you want to know if it's worth something, please contact an antique dealer that specializes in "TOBACCIANA".

Experience

I currently have 19 dedicated years of cigar smoking and counting. I have smoked every brand of Cuban cigars and most reputable non-Cuban cigar brands on a regular basis so I know a fair bit about taste profiles, cigar etiquette and other fine nuances to cigar smoking. For 5 years, I studied with Cuban torcedores (rollers), catadores (taste testers) and revisadores (inspectors) on every aspect involving the production of the Cuban cigar and I am currently writing a book that will help beginners understand everything they need to know about cigars and cigar smoking.
