Cigars/cellose or no cellose

Question
It seems that most all cigars come in a cellos wrapper.  Even my local tobacconist keeps  the majority of their cigars in the cellos while in the humidor.  Would it be better or more beneficial to keep them wrapped in my personal humidor or unwrap them to take advantage of that wonderful, spicy Spanish Cedar?
Thanks,
Ian

Answer
Ian,

Cellophane is a relatively porous material, so even if you store your cigars inside the cellophane tubes they come in, they will absorb some of the Spanish cedar aroma from your humidor.

The advantage of keeping them in their original tubes is that they are protected from damage as you put them in /take them out of the humidor and the tubes will help protect your cigars as you transport them to a restaurant, golf course...

Hope this helps.

Expertise

I'm a fourth generation cigar maker and have spent 25+ years operating our factory as well as a mail order cigar company. I belong to cigar manufacturers associations as well as retail cigar associations so I'm usually up to date with current events relating to cigars. I've smoked the majority of brands on the market and would be happy to share my opinions of them with you. Since I live in the U.S. I have very little experience with Cuban cigars, but other than that I know a least a little bit about almost every brand of cigars on the market.

Experience

In addition to growing up in and now managing our cigar factory for 25+ years, I've spent time in many factories in Honduras, Nicaragua, The Dominican Republic and Mexico. BR>
