Question
Hi i read your answer to someone that asked how to clean the mold i did that and cleaned my cigars(they were all wrapped so it was easy). My question is i use the xikar crystal clear humidifier should i replace that because of the mold or will that be ok?

Hi Earl,

What you should do is thoroughly rinse your humidifier with distilled water to remove any possible mold particles and then let it sit for several days.  If you do not see any mold appearing after several days, your crystals/humidifier are safe to use again.  If mold does appear, it's best to replace them.

I currently have 19 dedicated years of cigar smoking and counting. I have smoked every brand of Cuban cigars and most reputable non-Cuban cigar brands on a regular basis so I know a fair bit about taste profiles, cigar etiquette and other fine nuances to cigar smoking. For 5 years, I studied with Cuban torcedores (rollers), catadores (taste testers) and revisadores (inspectors) on every aspect involving the production of the Cuban cigar and I am currently writing a book that will help beginners understand everything they need to know about cigars and cigar smoking.
