Everclear ( or clear springs ) is superior to rubbing alcohol, it's a natural grain alcohol and 95% instead of isopropyl's 70%. Rubbing alcohol also contains a nasty fragrance (like gasoline & propane) to alert you to it's toxicity/flammability. Would you want that nasty smell in your humidor?

A small amount of glycerin, maybe 5% (but you could experiment)is perfect in the water for your humidor, it slows the evaporation of the water. It's been an ingredient in tobacco products for nearly a century. Bacteria don't readily utilize the "sugars" in it, it is a sugar alcohol.

I currently have 19 dedicated years of cigar smoking and counting. I have smoked every brand of Cuban cigars and most reputable non-Cuban cigar brands on a regular basis so I know a fair bit about taste profiles, cigar etiquette and other fine nuances to cigar smoking. For 5 years, I studied with Cuban torcedores (rollers), catadores (taste testers) and revisadores (inspectors) on every aspect involving the production of the Cuban cigar and I am currently writing a book that will help beginners understand everything they need to know about cigars and cigar smoking.
