Question
My grandfather told me that back in the old days those who had little would propose with cigar rings. I thought it was romantic and I wanted to by a cigar with a genuine ring on it for my boyfriend to give to him on our 1 year aniversary. I've searched the web and have not found a cigar sold with an actual ring on it. Is this a wives tale? If not, do they still sell them this way? Thank you very much!

I think when your grandfather talked about cigar rings, he was actually talking about the paper bands that come on cigars. These bands are often referred to as rings. I've never heard of an actual metal ring on a cigar - but I bet your friend would appreciate the gesture if you were to buy an inexpensive ring and place it on a cigar. Maybe a romantic brand like Romeo Y Julieta...

I'm a fourth generation cigar maker and have spent 25+ years operating our factory as well as a mail order cigar company. I belong to cigar manufacturers associations as well as retail cigar associations so I'm usually up to date with current events relating to cigars.
