Question
Hey Bill, I unfortunately left my humidor untended for a few months while out of town and came back to see the person I charged with the duty of maintaining it did no such thing. My question is how can I safely revive my cigars, and what is the best way to re-season my humidor without having my cigars out in the open while this happens.

Answer
Dan,

Put the cigars in any airtight container - a Tupperware bowl works great - and keep them in there while you re-season your humidor. Then put the cigars back in the humidor and be patient - they will slowly absorb humidity and eventually become soft again. Don't try to rush the process by forcing excess humidity or you'll en up with wrinkled/split cigars.

Sorry about the delay in answering you - I was out of the office for a few days.

Let me know if you have other questions.
Bill

Expertise

I'm a fourth generation cigar maker and have spent 25+ years operating our factory as well as a mail order cigar company. I belong to cigar manufacturers associations as well as retail cigar associations so I'm usually up to date with current events relating to cigars. I've smoked the majority of brands on the market and would be happy to share my opinions of them with you. Since I live in the U.S. I have very little experience with Cuban cigars, but other than that I know a least a little bit about almost every brand of cigars on the market.

Experience

In addition to growing up in and now managing our cigar factory for 25+ years, I've spent time in many factories in Honduras, Nicaragua, The Dominican Republic and Mexico. BR>
