Cigars/Repairing cigars

Question
Good Morning Bill,

I am using a peligan case as a humidor out here in the desert. Now to the problem. My cigars are too moist, so I have been trying to reduce it by leaving it open a bit to get some fresh air. Its however not working. But in the mean time that I am trying to fix this problem, I really need to repair my cigar stock to survive the remaining year I have been out here.

Pectin and vegetable glue seems to be rare to just get plain, non-scented, tasteless solution in a small quanity. I have looked where I could for repair kits, however, I am restricted on most sites to even watch videos on repairing or seeing if a retail site has one.

Question: Can you point me in the right direction on the pectin/vegetable glue, so I don't end up buying the wrong one. Also, could I pick your brain on how to repair these properly?

I do apologize ahead of time on the, what probably easy to find answers on the net, but I am restricted so I have to use this as a final attempt to get these recovered asap.

Thank you, I apprecaite any help.
Cort

Answer
Cort,

Sorry about the delay in answering your question. If you still need it, I can send you some of the paste we use in the manufacturing process. I can send it in powder form, and all you would need to do is mix it with water to make the paste used for patching cigars.

Let me know if i can help.

Expertise

I'm a fourth generation cigar maker and have spent 25+ years operating our factory as well as a mail order cigar company. I belong to cigar manufacturers associations as well as retail cigar associations so I'm usually up to date with current events relating to cigars. I've smoked the majority of brands on the market and would be happy to share my opinions of them with you. Since I live in the U.S. I have very little experience with Cuban cigars, but other than that I know a least a little bit about almost every brand of cigars on the market.

Experience

In addition to growing up in and now managing our cigar factory for 25+ years, I've spent time in many factories in Honduras, Nicaragua, The Dominican Republic and Mexico. BR>
