Question
Bill, a friend gave me several Padron 1964 specials for Christmas and I left them in the car for 72 hours. The temperature was between 25 and 35 F. What effect will this have on them if any?

Answer
Eric,

No problem, it shouldn't hurt them at all. Most manufacturers freeze their cigars to 0 degrees  before the are shipped from the factory to kill any tobacco beetle larvae that might be in them, so that cold temperature won't hurt them at all. Typically cigars are taken from 0 degrees back to room temperature at a slow rate just to avoid any possible quick expansion of the tobacco as they un-freeze. Once in a while you'll see a cigar wrapper split from being un-frozen and expanding too fast, but I doubt you'll have any problems.

Hope this helps.
Bill

Expertise

I'm a fourth generation cigar maker and have spent 25+ years operating our factory as well as a mail order cigar company. I belong to cigar manufacturers associations as well as retail cigar associations so I'm usually up to date with current events relating to cigars. I've smoked the majority of brands on the market and would be happy to share my opinions of them with you. Since I live in the U.S. I have very little experience with Cuban cigars, but other than that I know a least a little bit about almost every brand of cigars on the market.

Experience

In addition to growing up in and now managing our cigar factory for 25+ years, I've spent time in many factories in Honduras, Nicaragua, The Dominican Republic and Mexico. BR>
