Cigars/BUGS!

Question
A friend recently called to tell me that 6 of his 15 cigars that he keeps in a humidor had small holes in them and asked what to do. I advised him to throw out ALL the cigars as eggs had hatched within the leaves and have probably affected ALL the cigars. He wants to know what to do to the humidor to insure it wont happen again. Q: was my advise good?
Q: should he clean the humidor out, air dry
it, and how should he proceed?

Thanks,
Mike

Answer
First- I thought I answered this question but some how it did not go through sorry.

1. Clean out the humidor with rubbing alcohol and close it for a few days.
2. Open it for 2 days to air it out.
3. Through out the humidity device as eggs could be laid in there also.
4. Replace humidity device and start over.

Avoid the cigars that brought in the bugs.
