Question
i recently asked about the 2003 limited edition cohibas i was wrong this is what she has for sale COHIBA SIGLO VI GRAN RESERVA it looks exactly like the pictures on habanos.com even down to the small ribbon wrapped around the cigar i don't have access to call the distributor but every thing seems legit
can you tell me what these would usually go for shes asking 250 a box
i can get the serial # off it as well to check the authenticity

Answer
Hi Jacob,

$250 for the Siglo VI Gran Reserva is extremely suspicious.  The average price for a single box of these cigars is about $1,600 USD.  There were only 5,000 or these boxes made and each box contains 15 Siglo VI cigars with the additional Gran Reserva band.    The box itself is a beautiful hardwood box painted black and varnished.  The box is also fitted with brass piano hinges and a brass clasp.  I can't imagine the cigars being genuine if the retailer is only asking for $250.

Here are pictures of what the box looks like:

If you can get the serial number, you can definitely check the authenticity at Habanos' website.  Here's the link to Habanos' authenticity check:
http://www.habanos.com/Sellos/Info/VerificaSelloCajon

If the retailer has multiple boxes, check to make sure the serial # on each box is different and check with Habanos' authenticity check to see if they're real.

I hope this helps!  As always, if you have any more questions, please feel free to just ask and I will be happy to help.

Regards,
James

Expertise

My main area of expertise is Cuban cigars but I can also assist you with cigar etiquette, humidor maintenance and troubleshooting. Unsure of a certain cigar brand? Wondering what a certain cigar tastes like? Have any questions about Cuban cigars? Just let me know! I have smoked every brand of Cuban cigars and most reputable non-Cuban cigar brands on a regular basis so I know a fair bit about taste profiles, cigar etiquette and other fine nuances to cigar smoking. (NOTE: My main focus is on premium, hand-rolled cigars and not cheap, machine made, convenience store cigars.) IMPORTANT: PLEASE NOTE THAT I DO NOT PROVIDE CIGAR OR CIGAR-RELATED APPRAISALS. If you have a vintage cigar item and you want to know if it's worth something, please contact an antique dealer that specializes in "TOBACCIANA".

Experience

I currently have 19 dedicated years of cigar smoking and counting. I have smoked every brand of Cuban cigars and most reputable non-Cuban cigar brands on a regular basis so I know a fair bit about taste profiles, cigar etiquette and other fine nuances to cigar smoking. For 5 years, I studied with Cuban torcedores (rollers), catadores (taste testers) and revisadores (inspectors) on every aspect involving the production of the Cuban cigar and I am currently writing a book that will help beginners understand everything they need to know about cigars and cigar smoking.
