Cigars/Cigar Rejuvenation

Question
I have had a Romeo y Julieta churchill en tubo (in the metal tube) for a little over a week.  Do you think it is very dried out?  I am very amateur at cigars.  If it is dried out, is there any way to rejuvenate it if I don't have a humidor?

Thanks in advance,

Fred

Answer
Fred,
The cigar should be fine. Since it is in a tube you can easily remove it, check it and replace it, so why not do that? Simply lightly squeeze the cigar between your thumb and fingers - it should have a slight "give" to it. If instead it is hard then it is dry. You can also hold the cigar up next to your ear and give it a light squeeze - if you hear a cracking sound it is dry. To rejuvenate a dry cigar simply place it in a humidor (or zip lock bag if you don't have a humidor) with some sort of humidification device. It will eventually absorb moisture and be ready to smoke. You can purchase a disposable humidifier for around $1 from you local tobacconist (ask for Madelaine brand) or if you can't find them we sell them through our mail order company www.finckcigarcompany.com or (800) 221-0638.

Expertise

I'm a fourth generation cigar maker and have spent 25+ years operating our factory as well as a mail order cigar company. I belong to cigar manufacturers associations as well as retail cigar associations so I'm usually up to date with current events relating to cigars. I've smoked the majority of brands on the market and would be happy to share my opinions of them with you. Since I live in the U.S. I have very little experience with Cuban cigars, but other than that I know a least a little bit about almost every brand of cigars on the market.

Experience

In addition to growing up in and now managing our cigar factory for 25+ years, I've spent time in many factories in Honduras, Nicaragua, The Dominican Republic and Mexico. BR>
