Hi James,

Could you tell what would be the price differences for buying a box of decent quality Cuban cigars if I purchased them in....

Toronto?
Mexico?
Cuba?

Hi Mike,

Prices can greatly vary by country.  For example, a genuine box of 25 Montecristo #4 (petit corona) can cost about $80 USD in Cuba.  In Mexico, the exact same box can cost about $150-200 USD and in Canada, the box will cost about $400-425 before taxes.  Tobacco taxes in Canada are extremely high and vary by province which is why Cuban cigar prices are also high.

I currently have 19 dedicated years of cigar smoking and counting. I have smoked every brand of Cuban cigars and most reputable non-Cuban cigar brands on a regular basis so I know a fair bit about taste profiles, cigar etiquette and other fine nuances to cigar smoking. For 5 years, I studied with Cuban torcedores (rollers), catadores (taste testers) and revisadores (inspectors) on every aspect involving the production of the Cuban cigar and I am currently writing a book that will help beginners understand everything they need to know about cigars and cigar smoking.
