Question
Bill
When the humidor is prepared how often is it necessary to check the humidor for the humidity level. Also, I am a fairly inexperienced smoker and would like to stock my new humidor with a good cigar without spending a ton of money.
Thank you Nick

Answer
Nick,
Depending on what system you have, your humidifier should hold enough fluid to last around 30 days. If you have a hygrometer in it just take a look at it every time you open the box - when you see it start moving down you know your humidor is getting dry, but ideally you'll keep the humidifier filled so that it never loses humidity. For a new smoker I like to suggest Macanudo Cafe, Romeo Y Julieta Reserva Real, Ashton Classic. None of them are "inexpensive", but they're all good, mild cigars. If you'd like to try something less expensive, check out our web site at www.finckcigar.com and look these brands: Finck's Cheroots, Charles the Great, Honduran Secret, Lamb's Club, Travis Club Premium. These are all good quality, relatively inexpensive and relatively mild cigars. Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks,
Bill

Expertise

I'm a fourth generation cigar maker and have spent 25+ years operating our factory as well as a mail order cigar company. I belong to cigar manufacturers associations as well as retail cigar associations so I'm usually up to date with current events relating to cigars. I've smoked the majority of brands on the market and would be happy to share my opinions of them with you. Since I live in the U.S. I have very little experience with Cuban cigars, but other than that I know a least a little bit about almost every brand of cigars on the market.

Experience

In addition to growing up in and now managing our cigar factory for 25+ years, I've spent time in many factories in Honduras, Nicaragua, The Dominican Republic and Mexico. BR>
