Question
I have just received my new humidor. It is a display cabinet type holding some 1500 cigars.  I am looking for a humidifier that will do the job. I am looking at the Oasis II XL and the Moist n aire  but have not been able to find anything that compares there effectiveness. Have you any suggestions.
Thanks

Answer
Hi Bob,

The Oasis II XL is very effective and would suit a 1500 count humidor very well.  I know several people that use this unit and they are pleased with it.  It’s very reputable and reliable.  I also know a couple of people that use Moist-N-Aire for their commercial humidors and though they say their units are intended for 2000+ count humidors, it’s still very reliable, user-friendly and effective on large cigar collections.  Both units are similar performance-wise but I believe Moist-N-Aire has a larger water reservoir (2 quarts [64oz] compared to Oasis’ 1.5 quarts [50 oz]) and is more user-friendly and convenient.  Oasis is more stylish, has more bells and whistles and claims to have more coverage (60 cubic feet compared to Moist-N-Aire’s 50 cubic feet) but the reservoir is smaller than Moist-N-Aire.

Based on form and functionality, I would recommend Moist-N-Aire.

Hopes this answers your question.

Regards,
James

Expertise

My main area of expertise is Cuban cigars but I can also assist you with cigar etiquette, humidor maintenance and troubleshooting. Unsure of a certain cigar brand? Wondering what a certain cigar tastes like? Have any questions about Cuban cigars? Just let me know! I have smoked every brand of Cuban cigars and most reputable non-Cuban cigar brands on a regular basis so I know a fair bit about taste profiles, cigar etiquette and other fine nuances to cigar smoking. (NOTE: My main focus is on premium, hand-rolled cigars and not cheap, machine made, convenience store cigars.) IMPORTANT: PLEASE NOTE THAT I DO NOT PROVIDE CIGAR OR CIGAR-RELATED APPRAISALS. If you have a vintage cigar item and you want to know if it's worth something, please contact an antique dealer that specializes in "TOBACCIANA".

Experience

I currently have 19 dedicated years of cigar smoking and counting. I have smoked every brand of Cuban cigars and most reputable non-Cuban cigar brands on a regular basis so I know a fair bit about taste profiles, cigar etiquette and other fine nuances to cigar smoking. For 5 years, I studied with Cuban torcedores (rollers), catadores (taste testers) and revisadores (inspectors) on every aspect involving the production of the Cuban cigar and I am currently writing a book that will help beginners understand everything they need to know about cigars and cigar smoking.
