Cigars/Looking for a brand

Question
Someone gave me four Don Antonio cigars that were in individual black boxes and they were wrapped in cellophane with a glass tube inside which was wrapped in paper and the cigar inside had a wood wrap around it ... The band and box are both marked premium and cigar deveracruz ...  I would like to find these as it was an outstanding cigar, mild with a good draw ... Do you have any idea who makes this cigar and if so where you can order them ...
THANK YOU

Answer
Hi Roger,

That description doesn't sound very familiar.  The name "Don Antonio" is actually used by several cigar manufacturers, companies and cigar brands for medium to low-end cigars so it's hard to know exactly what the origin of your cigar is.  If you can send me a picture of the cigar band and coffin box, that could help me with the search.  The black coffin box and glass cigar tube sounds like the cigar could be a limited or special edition cigar and the word "veracruz" suggests that the cigar may be Mexican in original.  Unfortunately, the description really doesn't ring a bell.

If you have a picture of the band and box, upload the pictures to a image hosting website such as imageshack or photobucket and send me the link and I'll try my best to track down some more info for you.

Regards,
James

Expertise

My main area of expertise is Cuban cigars but I can also assist you with cigar etiquette, humidor maintenance and troubleshooting. Unsure of a certain cigar brand? Wondering what a certain cigar tastes like? Have any questions about Cuban cigars? Just let me know! I have smoked every brand of Cuban cigars and most reputable non-Cuban cigar brands on a regular basis so I know a fair bit about taste profiles, cigar etiquette and other fine nuances to cigar smoking. (NOTE: My main focus is on premium, hand-rolled cigars and not cheap, machine made, convenience store cigars.) IMPORTANT: PLEASE NOTE THAT I DO NOT PROVIDE CIGAR OR CIGAR-RELATED APPRAISALS. If you have a vintage cigar item and you want to know if it's worth something, please contact an antique dealer that specializes in "TOBACCIANA".

Experience

I currently have 19 dedicated years of cigar smoking and counting. I have smoked every brand of Cuban cigars and most reputable non-Cuban cigar brands on a regular basis so I know a fair bit about taste profiles, cigar etiquette and other fine nuances to cigar smoking. For 5 years, I studied with Cuban torcedores (rollers), catadores (taste testers) and revisadores (inspectors) on every aspect involving the production of the Cuban cigar and I am currently writing a book that will help beginners understand everything they need to know about cigars and cigar smoking.
