Cigars/Rejuvenate cigar

Question
I have had a Romeo y Julieta churchill en tubo (in the metal tube) for a little over a week.  Do you think it is very dried out?  I am very amateur at cigars.  If it is dried out, is there any way to rejuvenate it if I don't have a humidor?

Thanks in advance,
Fred

Answer
Hi Fred,

Cigars in cigar tubes normally begin to become dry after one week if left out of a humidor.  What you should do immediately is place the cigar in a humidor so that humidity can be returned to the cigar.  Because you do not own a humidor, what you can do is purchase a "humi-pouch".  Humi-pouches are basically Ziploc-style bags with a humidified lining built into the bags.  These bags are intended for short term cigar storage and travel and can keep your cigar(s) perfectly humidified for up to 3 months straight after the seal on the bag has been broken.  After 90 days, you would have to replace the bag.  These bags are available in a variety of sizes and can accomodate everything from a few single cigars to whole boxes.  They sell for $5 - $15 per bag (depending on the size of the bag) and you can find them at any reputable cigar store/tobacconist.

Hopes this answers your question. If you have any more questions, please feel free to just ask and I'll be happy to help.

Regards,
James

Expertise

My main area of expertise is Cuban cigars but I can also assist you with cigar etiquette, humidor maintenance and troubleshooting. Unsure of a certain cigar brand? Wondering what a certain cigar tastes like? Have any questions about Cuban cigars? Just let me know! I have smoked every brand of Cuban cigars and most reputable non-Cuban cigar brands on a regular basis so I know a fair bit about taste profiles, cigar etiquette and other fine nuances to cigar smoking. (NOTE: My main focus is on premium, hand-rolled cigars and not cheap, machine made, convenience store cigars.) IMPORTANT: PLEASE NOTE THAT I DO NOT PROVIDE CIGAR OR CIGAR-RELATED APPRAISALS. If you have a vintage cigar item and you want to know if it's worth something, please contact an antique dealer that specializes in "TOBACCIANA".

Experience

I currently have 19 dedicated years of cigar smoking and counting. I have smoked every brand of Cuban cigars and most reputable non-Cuban cigar brands on a regular basis so I know a fair bit about taste profiles, cigar etiquette and other fine nuances to cigar smoking. For 5 years, I studied with Cuban torcedores (rollers), catadores (taste testers) and revisadores (inspectors) on every aspect involving the production of the Cuban cigar and I am currently writing a book that will help beginners understand everything they need to know about cigars and cigar smoking.
