Hi-

I have a rather expensive collection of smokes in my coolerdor. I have bought several hygrometer's and they all read humidity readings. Ranging from 55-75. I did the salt test with a calibration bag and they are indeed all off by 10-15 degrees of humidity. Should I simply make a note on the back of each one to display how far off the "real" humidity is? I guess I just don't understand how these things are so far off when they should be somewhat accurate

I can't answer your question as to why they are all reading different levels of relative humidity - if you have a good quality digital type (i.e. Madelaine brand) it should be fairly accurate. Since all you are using them for is to watch for variations in humidity, there is nothing wring with marking what % they are off and going by that. None of my analog hygrometers are 100% accurate, so I just know what they normally read and watch for a drop from that level. Hope this helps.
