Cigars/Is this spanish cedar? Or is it a fake substitute?

Question
Hi, being fairly new to cigars and storing them, I want to if its possible to judge from the pics below to see if its legit spanish cedar or maybe if its a cheaper version. This is my second humidor I've owned, got it for about $140 from an online cigar store. Holds humidity perfectly but unlike my first humidor it doesn't have that real strong aroma of spanish cedar. Anyways maybe I'm being paranoid , but have discovered this hobby isn't cheap, and want the best storage for my cigars.

Thank you for your time and help.

Answer
Dustin,

It looks like Spanish cedar to me. Spanish cedar shouldn't have a very strong aroma - that why they use Spanish vs. other types. Typically it will have some aroma when new and will lose most of it as the box ages and it takes on cigar aromas. Honestly, if it doesn't have any bad aromas (pine, glue...) its fine. I don' think you have anything to worry about.

Expertise

I'm a fourth generation cigar maker and have spent 25+ years operating our factory as well as a mail order cigar company. I belong to cigar manufacturers associations as well as retail cigar associations so I'm usually up to date with current events relating to cigars. I've smoked the majority of brands on the market and would be happy to share my opinions of them with you. Since I live in the U.S. I have very little experience with Cuban cigars, but other than that I know a least a little bit about almost every brand of cigars on the market.

Experience

In addition to growing up in and now managing our cigar factory for 25+ years, I've spent time in many factories in Honduras, Nicaragua, The Dominican Republic and Mexico. BR>
