I would like to know how long it usually takes to be paid the money owed after winning a case against the city of Chicago or most cities in general, especially if the sum is in the 1 million dollar range??

Unfortunately, that is an impossible question for me to answer.  I would say typically a month or thereabout but, you need to check the IL and Local Rules of Civil Procedure of the court which you obtained the judgment.
