Civil/Commercial Litigation (Lawsuits)/court ruling

Question
Is there an instrument of law that can suspend or stay the "court order" while the defendant still wants to look for more evidence to prove his case? I am not thinking of an appeal procedure. Case scenario: The court rules that I pay Alpha for services rendered to the sum of $1 million for a job that I wuld have paid a mere $500. I the defendant dont dispute the services rendered. But the fees in question are calculated outside my normal rates. I did not agree to the rates used in the first place. The rates should normally be mine since I hire the service provider at my rates. Somehow the job was done and completed before an agreement was reached on the payment rates. Now Alpha has sued for payment at his own rates and the Courts order that he should be paid.

Answer
First off, if your jurisdiction is like GA, you must file a motion for a new trial, reconsideration or whatever is allowed your jurisdiction within 30 days of the date of the judgment. Due to the size of the judgment, I would strongly suggest that you consult with a local attorney ASAP.
