Civil/Commercial Litigation (Lawsuits)/executor

Question
My sister is named as executor of my fathers estate in his will we were both named in the will to share equally.  My sister told me that
because she is the executor she has free reign to do with the estate as she wishes and that I am only a beneficiary.  My fathers home, she wants to possibly sell but I know after estate taxes and selling fees we would be paying, I suggested that we just give it to the bank.  She said no and that I have no say in the matter.  Is that true??
Thanks,
Cathrine

Answer
You should contact a local attorney ASAP. At least in GA, and I would imagine in most other states, the executor has no extra rights just because of being executor. I tell clients that the executor is like a traffic cop: he/she is to carry out the terms of the will.
